CHAPTER VII

FRED SANDERS LOVING TEMPERATURE

The next day, when Bud had not yet left the bed, he was very surprised to receive a visit from Fred.

“What the hell do you want, that you don't even let me rest when I'm comfortable?

"A pattern of your size should be the first to hit the navel. Don't you see me, ready to go down to the pastures?"

"Good, but it's you and not me who has to go down."

"Good, but you are the one who has to receive the visitors." Please get dressed and go down to the patio. There is a large committee of swallow children who want to talk to you.

Bud, very intrigued, threw himself off the bed, asking:

“Do you want to explain yourself, damn your stamp? Who are they and what do they want?

"They say they're cow”boys and they pretend to be part of the team."

Bud stared at him questioningly.

“What do you suspect, toad from hell? Do you think that they are types thrown by the cattle rustlers?

"I don't suspect anything." They seem to have the faces of good boys; But do not trust, that hell is sown with good intentions.

Bud hurried down to the patio, where eight young, stout, good”looking, laughing”faced boys stood stiffly waiting on horseback.

Bud examined them with a deep glance, being pleased with his picture and, approaching them, asked:

“What did you guys want?

One of them, assuming the representation of all, exclaimed in a broken voice:

"Well ... we came because ... they told us what you did last night in." "The Gold Nugget" and we wanted ...

Bud stepped forward, asking:

“Finish soon! Do you want to avenge Ray's death?

The cowboy raised his arms to heaven, exclaiming:

“God save us! We come because we have been told that you have asked for honest men and ... something brave, who are willing to help you and we ... maybe we can ...

“Basa! Do not continue, that if it costs you so much work to link a steer as to explain yourself, you are not going to serve me. It is true that I have said it. I need pawns to replace the rogues I kicked out of here, but I don't want rogues to replace the pawns. We're?

"We are decent people." You can inform yourself.

"Of course I will." You will leave me your names and I will ask the sheriff. If he answers me about you ... Fred, take their parentage and let them come back this afternoon.

Fred took the names and the boys left, apparently very happy.

"Looks like they're not outlaws," Bud suggested. This afternoon I will know.

Indeed, that afternoon he went down with the list to the sheriff's offices, who, as soon as he saw him enter, advanced towards him with outstretched hand, saying:

“Bravo, Mr. Raines! I congratulate you from the bottom of my heart. You have done something too big to admit without seeing. I believe that with Ray's death you have dealt a terrible blow to the cattle rustlers.

“You believe it? I estimate that now all those who are scattered around will get together and will try to give me the decisive battle.
